DIY Methods to Remove Salt Stains From Your Car
If you are interested in getting a head start on your spring cleaning, a good place to start is to freshen up your car by removing those ugly salt stains on your floor mats! If you prefer a DIY approach below are a number of steps to help you remove salt stains from your car’s floor mats.
Step 1: Vacuum mats or if they are removable take them out and shake off all the built up debris.
Step 2: Fill a spray bottle with half warm water and half white vinegar. Alternatively liquid dish soap can be mixed with the water instead of vinegar.
Step 3: Spray the parts of your mats and carpet that are stained with salt, followed by firmly pressing a cloth on the wet spot for a few seconds. Lift the cloth and if necessary repeat this step until the stain is gone. Make sure to fold the cloth to a clean or unused section to ensure that it is truly effective.
When cleaning your car mats, make sure you are able to dry them off after using a wet/dry vacuum or by airing them out outside. This will protect you from the possibility of creating mildew under your carpets if they were to remain wet.
